Need: SGCC have been working hard to make the fantastic heritage of the West of England more accessible with the Know Your Place mapping project. They wanted to take this work further, bringing together more than 20 archives and collections to create a touring exhibition.
Response: Through a series of workshops with the council and the diverse archives and collections, we helped to create KYPExplore: a touring digital heritage exhibition and free-to-access, branded digital platform. The flatpack design with integrated digital elements could be installed or disassembled by two people in an hour and transported in one van. It travelled to over 16 venues across the West of England during its active phase.
Learning: Taking archives out into non-traditional spaces proved a huge draw for local communities. The KYPExplore design has been adapted into a standalone product, excellent for small exhibitions, trade shows and more…(Link to Pop Up engage)
