Client: CADW (HLF Funded)
Date: 2014 - Present
Need: Pembroke Castle is typical of heritage sites, historic locations and visitor experiences that are on the lookout for new and exciting ways to attract audiences and create better experiences for the loyal visitors they already have. CADW is the Welsh Government’s historic environment service, and in English means ‘to keep’ or ‘to protect’.
Response: Working with local historians, artists and CADW, we’ve developed a diverse range of traditional and digital interpretation strategies and interventions at historic sites. These share the stories of their creation, use and conservation to help people understand and care about the history we share. Ultimately it enables people to think differently about the places they live, work and visit.
Learning: Many historic sites, museums and visitor experiences around the world are starting out on their digital journeys, but still uncertain about what ‘Digital’ could mean for them. CADW saw that with the right experienced support and advice there was huge opportunity to reach new audiences and existing ones in new ways.
