Narrative Technology

Here, we see Narrative and Empathy as central to our work; it is what drives our approach and our content. Empathy, not in the sense of putting yourself in someone else’s shoes, to do that you have already made your judgements of them, but rather seen as walking alongside and sharing the experience.
We have decades’ of experience helping people, employers, employees, communities, groups and places discover, create and implement their narratives; To do this we created the digital Platform, Ripple, our incredibly flexible and easy to use system.
Narrative is a powerful force, it is how the human mind makes sense of the world around it, and new technologies\uses for technologies raise important questions about the formation of identity. We are working at the intersection of narrative, technology and society, looking at the ways in which information can dramatically improve and enhance our lives, as well as, the importance of access and relevance.
Through narrative ‘things’ are contextualised, as a result they take on meaning; whether it’s why you’re being asked to pay service charges, how care givers can access vital information about the people they are caring for, what a memorial means to different groups in a community or improving business presentations with interactive guides and interviews etc…the Platform's applications are many and varied!
We designed our flexible software to, very easily, take-up and interweave multiple narrative strands (e.g. corporate and professional, personal, facilities, past, present and future, author and fan, professional and amateur, local and tourist…) and deliver them in one coherent, highly accessible experience.
To borrow a phrase; where content is king, context is god.
To this I will add one thing; without a narrative, a clear voice and a personality, content is weak, often devoid of context and runs the serious risk of appearing irrelevant.
2016 is showing signs of being a truly fascinating year at City-Insights.
