Newport businesses to get web-digital support

Back in 2012 the city of Newport was among the very first to see the potential of the City-Insights smartphone-friendly Platform. We created the Newport Explorer trail (www.npex.co.uk) to tell the story of the city’s past at locations around the central area. The stories included archive video, personal recollections and even a contribution from the Town Poet.

In the first quarter of 2016 we will be upgrading the Newport system to include our new modules such as Google maps, navigation and click-to-call. Newport is using this opportunity to expand the digital scope to include the Newport Now Business Improvement District.

Working with Newport Now, the aim is to give residents and visitors a strong ‘digital welcome’ to the shops immediately around them with information about new lines, special offers and customer support. With the new free city-wide wifi system going in, this will instantly make Newport one of UK’s leading smartphone-friendly locations.
