Project Champions at Loughborough in London

Loughborough University has, this year, opened a brand new campus at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park at Stratford, London.

As part of a new, forward-thinking and interdisciplinary Masters course students from disparate fields including Digital Technologies, Media & Creative Industries, Design Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Sport and Business are being given the opportunity to work alongside industry leaders to tackle a variety of 'real world' issues.

City-Insights has been given a rare opportunity to collaborate with the students on this module as Project Champions. Getting students to draw on their own expertise and creative powers, merging skills from their various disciplines with unique access to the City-Insights Platform and expertise, we are exploring innovative ways to use digital interventions in rapidly changing urban environments.

This project pushes students to look deeply at the places they inhabit, pass through, ignore or actively avoid to determine the causes and effects of their 'sense of place'. Students will have the chance to develop their strategic and problem solving skills, as well as working with communities, businesses and social groups. By working alongside City-Insights, industry leaders in digital placemaking, the students will have the chance to engage with a truly emerging and future-thinking industry to produce potentially actionable results.

At the end of four months the students will 'pitch' their research and solutions to a panel with representatives from both the industry side of the module and the academic.

Though, at this time, we cannot expand of the briefs being worked on as the projects are live, stay tuned in early 2016 for a full review.
